What is the difference between HDPE and PE

1. Different characteristics:

● PE characteristics: Polyethylene is a white waxy translucent material, soft and flexible, lighter than water, non-toxic, and has excellent dielectric properties. It is flammable and continues to burn after leaving the fire. The permeability is low, but the permeability to organic vapor is high.
The transparency of polyethylene decreases with the increase of crystallinity, and increases with the increase of molecular weight under a certain degree of crystallinity. The melting point of hdpe ranges from 132-135°C, and the low-density polyethylene has a lower melting point (112°C) and a wide range.
● HDPE characteristics: High-density polyethylene is an opaque white wax-like material with a light specific gravity, 0.941-0.960. It is both soft and hard, but slightly harder than the Liberal Democratic Party. It is also slightly slender, non-toxic and tasteless.

2. Different chemical properties:

● PE chemical properties: polyethylene has excellent chemical stability. It can resist the corrosion of chemical substances such as hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, amine, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, etc. at room temperature. Nitric acid and sulfuric acid have a strong destructive effect on polyethylene.
● HDPE chemical properties: flammable, can continue to burn after fire. The flame is yellow at the top and blue at the bottom. When it burns, it melts. There will be droplets, no black smoke. At the same time, it also emits the smell of burning paraffin.


3. The application is different:

● PE application: suitable for product labels with high resistance to water, oil and chemicals. Printing often applies this material to labels for cosmetics, shampoos, washing and other daily chemicals. Moisture-proof and anti-extrusion requirements. Excellent flexibility, especially for plastic bags. It can also be used in situations where PVC label materials cannot be used due to environmental requirements.
● Polyethylene can be processed by blow molding, extrusion, injection molding and other methods. It is widely used in the manufacture of films, hollow products, fibers and household products.
● HDPE application: used for extruding packaging films, ropes, woven bags, fishing nets, water pipes; injection molding low-end products and shells, non-load-bearing components, rubber boxes, turnover boxes, extrusion blow molding containers, hollow products, bottles.
